TikTok Creator Rewards Program: Requirements, Qualified Views and Pay
Creator Rewards is how TikTok pays creators for views. Getting in takes five boxes ticked, and getting paid depends on a view count that is smaller than the one on your profile. Here is how the whole thing works.
The short answer
The Creator Rewards Program pays creators for qualified views on original videos longer than one minute. To join, you need 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days. Most creators report earning roughly $0.40 to $1.20 per 1,000 qualified views.
Who can join
You need to tick all five of these:
- Age: 18 or older (19 in South Korea).
- Followers: at least 10,000.
- Views: at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
- Account: a personal account in good standing. Business accounts and political or government accounts are not eligible.
- Country: you must live in a country where the program runs. The list has grown over time, so check the Creator Rewards page in TikTok Studio to see if it is open to you.
Once you meet the bar, you can apply from the monetization section of TikTok Studio. Joining is free.
Which videos earn
Only original, public videos longer than one minute earn from the program. A 58-second video can get millions of views and still pay nothing. Reposts and lightly edited re-uploads of other people's content do not count as original.
The old Creator Fund paid on any length of video but at a much lower rate, roughly $0.02 to $0.04 per 1,000 views. Creator Rewards pays far more per view, but only on longer videos.
What counts as a qualified view
Your payout is based on qualified views, not the view count you see on the video. A qualified view is:
- From the For You feed.
- Watched for more than five seconds.
- A unique view. Rewatches from the same account count once.
- Not from paid promotion, ads or fake traffic.
Because of these rules, a video's qualified views are often a good deal lower than its total views. Check the Creator Rewards dashboard for the real number before you estimate earnings.
What Creator Rewards pays
| Qualified views | Low ($0.40 RPM) | Typical ($0.80 RPM) | High ($1.20 RPM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | $40 | $80 | $120 |
| 500,000 | $200 | $400 | $600 |
| 1,000,000 | $400 | $800 | $1,200 |
| 10,000,000 | $4,000 | $8,000 | $12,000 |

What moves your rate
Watch time
Views only count after five seconds, and videos people keep watching get pushed to more For You feeds. Both mean more qualified views from the same idea.
Originality
Original content is a hard requirement. Your own voice, footage and ideas are the safe bet; anything that looks like a re-upload risks earning nothing.
Audience country and niche
As with every ad-funded platform, viewers in high-value advertising markets and topics like finance, tech and business pull your rate up. Entertainment and very young audiences pull it down.
How to get more from the program
- Plan videos that are clearly over a minute, not 61 seconds of filler. Aim for a reason to keep watching.
- Hook people in the first two seconds so more views pass the five-second mark. Our hook formulas help here.
- Keep posting shorter clips for reach, then point those new followers to your longer videos.
- Add brand deals once your views are steady. For many creators they pay more than Creator Rewards.
