What each platform pays per 1,000 views
Direct platform payouts only — brand deals and affiliate income sit on top of every row below, and for most established creators they are the larger number.

The three ways creators get paid
Almost every creator income statement is some mix of the same three lines, and the mix shifts predictably as an account grows.
- 1. Platform revenue share
- The platform sells ads against your content and gives you a cut. Reliable, fully passive, and — outside YouTube long-form — usually smaller than creators expect.
- 2. Brand deals
- A company pays you directly to feature them. Priced off followers and engagement on short-form platforms, and off average views on YouTube. This is the largest line for most full-time creators.
- 3. Affiliate and direct sales
- Commission on products you recommend, or revenue from something you sell yourself. The slowest to build and the only one nobody can take away from you.
What moves your rate most
Two inputs explain most of the variance between creators with identical view counts.
- Your niche
- Advertisers in finance, insurance, real estate, and B2B software pay several times what advertisers in gaming, music, and comedy pay, because their customers are worth more. This alone can be a 3x swing in RPM.
- Where your audience lives
- A view from the United States, UK, or Australia is worth roughly four to five times a view from a Tier 4 advertising market. Two channels with a million views each can be a 5x apart on revenue for this reason alone.
- Engagement rate
- Barely affects ad revenue, but heavily affects what brands will pay. Check yours with the engagement rate calculator.
Frequently asked questions
- Which social media platform pays creators the most per view?
- YouTube long-form video pays the most per view by a wide margin — roughly $1.20 to $8.00 per 1,000 views, versus $0.40 to $1.00 on TikTok and $0.02 to $0.15 on YouTube Shorts. Instagram and Vimeo pay nothing per view at all, because neither shares ad revenue with creators.
- How much do social media creators actually earn?
- Across every platform, brand deals and affiliate income typically outweigh platform payouts once a creator passes roughly 100,000 monthly views. Platform revenue share is the predictable base; sponsorships are where the meaningful money is. Each calculator on this page models both.
- Why do earnings estimates vary so much between calculators?
- Because two variables swamp everything else: your content niche and where your audience lives. A finance channel with a US audience can earn ten times what a gaming channel with a Tier 4 audience earns on identical view counts. Calculators that ignore those two inputs are guessing.
- Are these creator earnings calculators free?
- Yes. Every calculator here is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser — your numbers are never sent to a server.
- How accurate are creator money calculators?
- They produce a modelled range, not a prediction. Real payouts move with seasonality, watch time, advertiser demand, and platform policy changes. Use the middle of the range for planning and the low end for any decision you cannot reverse.
